Dhampus is a beautiful village in the foothills of the Annapurna Himalaya. The ridge top at 1,600 m offers close up view of Annapurna and Manaslu range with layers of green hills towards south. Dhampus offers glimpse into the typical Nepalese countryside lifestyle and culture. It still retains charming stone houses with thatch or slate roofing running down the terraced farms. The village is a gateway to Annapurna Conservation Area. The largest conservation area of Nepal provides popular multi-days' trekking to Annapurna base camp, Mustang, Jomsom and Muktinath and more.
Dhampus has got beautiful family run lodges as well as luxury lodges to spend night and enjoy the majestic Himalayas. The village could be accessed by road these days. It is about 26 km from Pokhara but the last 8 km is winding dirt road up the mountain.
