The world's 1st granite temple is the Brahadeeswara Temple(Big Temple) at Thanjavur in Tamilnadu. The "shikara" (Top of the Tower Doom) is made from a single '80 tonne' piece of granite. Also, this magnificient temple was built in just 5 years, (between 1004 AD and 1009 AD)during the reign of King Rajaraja Cholan.
