A Pitchiah

The famous Nadaswaram Maestro Karukurichi Arunachalam lived in Kovilpatti. He lays buried in a samadhi at a site, on Kadaliyur road, gifted by the then district administration. The samadhi is currently being maintained by the maestro's family members.

There is also a statue of the maestro, gifted by actor Gemini Ganesh and his wife Savitri. This statue is located on Thoothukudi road near the Govt. hospital.

Both the monuments are indeed landmarks in the town and could be developed as spots of tourism more..
