The Tamil Varudappirappu (new year) on April 14 is celebrated here with full enthusiasm. A 9 day festival is organised here by the local temple(Shenbagavalli Amman Temple) and all the local communities take part in the festivities. A "Therottam" (Idols in a wooden car like structure will be taken on a procession) is held on the 8th day and around 25,000 people from nearby take part in watching this event.
