Beaches in Pune
Edit This
If you need to get away to enjoy warm sandy beaches and a relaxing atmosphere there are very few places that can compete with Pune Beaches.
Kashid
The beach town of Kashid is on the shores of the Arabian Sea. It is in the northern region of Maharashtra in India and is a favorite place for locals and tourists alike. With white sandy beaches, clear blue waters, rivulets and paddy fields all backed by green mountains, it is easy to understand its popularity. You will want to be a little careful at around noon as the seas can get a little wild during high tide. Located only 30 km From Alibaug and 165 km from Pune, one can easily hire a taxi to get there.
Alibaug
Alibaug is another popular place and is frequented by many affluent people from the surrounding areas. It is steeped in history and is a major business centre. The Kulaba Fort is the prime attraction for the area, although due to the sea there is only about an hour’s access to the fort early in the morning before high tide and if you get caught there you will have to spend the day as it is between 5 and 6 hours between high tide and low tide. For accommodations in Alibaug, many of the local people will be happy to rent you a room or you can stay at on of the many hotels in the area.
Murud
Murud is a small fishing town full of cute wooden cottages and picturesque views. The views offered by standing near the Dattatreya temple are spectacular. Murud is a quiet little getaway perfect for romance.
Harihareshwar
Known for the temple of Harihareshwar, Harihareshwar is a beautiful place to see. The white sandy beaches and gentle tides make this region a true delight for beach goers. For adventure, you can explore the north side of the bay where the prime ministers once resided.
Diveghar
Diveghar is another place known for its beautiful beaches and tranquil atmosphere. The place also has a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The statue in the temple is made of pure gold. The idol is rumored to have been found in a cache of diamonds over 1000 years ago. You will need to watch out for the crowds that surround the temple.
The Beaches of Pune are all beautiful and worth a long relaxing visit. With cool white sand and warm blue waters the peace and tranquility of this breathtaking area cannot be beat and is defiantly worth a visit by anyone who enjoys surf, sand and sun.
