By Air

To reach Panchgani, you could either take a flight to Pune or to Mumbai. Pune has the closest airport and there are direct flight to Pune from most of the tourist destinations in India like, Goa and Bangalore as well as Mumbai. From Pune airport you can travel to Panchgani either by a taxi or by bus. The other option is to land in Mumbai airport then proceed to Panchgani.

By Car

If you are in a mood to take a road trip and enjoy the sights while traveling, you can travel to Panchgani by road. Landing in Mumbai would be the best bet. You can hire taxis from the international or the domestic airports in Mumbai. The taxi will take you directly to Panchgani. The cost is between $55 and $80, depending on the car that you hire. Traveling by road will take anywhere between 3 and 4 hours, depending on the speed at which you drive, the weather and the traffic blocks, if any. You can also take a taxi from Pune to Panchgani, which would cost you approximately INR 2100 or $46.

By Bus

You can experience the public transport of India by taking a bus to Panchgani. You can take a bus either from Pune or from Mumbai. There are state run buses and private players as well who shuttle between Pune and Panchgani and Mumbai and Panchgani. A bus ride from Pune will cost you around INR 300 or $7. The rates for the route from Mumbai to Panchgani will be a bit higher. The travel time is approximately 4 hours.

By Rail

Find out about the functioning of the rail system introduced in India by the British. You can take a train ride from Mumbai to Pune. Panchgani, unfortunately does not have a train station. In Mumbai, there are 3 boarding stations for the trains to Pune. You can either take the train departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) or the Dadar Terminus (DR).
