Panchgani, is nestled between five mountains in the Satara district in Maharashtra, India. Panchgani along with Matheran and Mahabaleshwar are a few popular hill stations in Maharashtra.

Panchgani, is 285 kilometers from Mumbai, 100 kilometers from Pune and 18 kilometers from Mahabaleshwar. These are the prominent areas around Panchgani.

By Air
To reach Panchgani, you could either take a flight to Pune or to Mumbai. Pune as mentioned above is 100 kilometers from Panchgani, and has the closest airport. There are direct flight to Pune from most of the tourist destinations in India like, Goa, Bangalore as well as Mumbai. From Pune airport you can travel to Panchgani either by a taxi or by a bus. The other option is to land in Mumbai airport then proceed to Panchgani.

By Car
If you are in a mood to take a road trip and enjoy the sights while traveling, you can travel to Panchgani by road. Landing in Mumbai would be the best bet. You can hire taxis from the international or the domestic airports in Mumbai. The taxi will take you directly to Panchgani. The cost would be between $55 to $80, depending on the car that you hire. As you are traveling by road, it would take anywhere between three to four hours, depending on the speed at which you drive, the weather and the traffic blocks if any. You can also take a taxi from Pune to Panchgani, which would cost you around INR 2100 or $46.

By Bus
You can experience the public transport of India by taking a bus to Panchgani. You can take a bus either from Pune or from Mumbai. Whichever is convenient. Not just state run buses, but there are private players as well who shuttle between Pune and Panchgani and Mumbai and Panchgani. A bus ride from Pune will cost you around INR 300 or $7. The rates for the route from Mumbai to Panchgani will be a tad bit higher. The travel time is approximately four hours.

By Rail
Find out the functioning of the rail system introduced in India by the British. You can take a train ride from Mumbai to Pune. Panchgani, unfortunately does not have a train station. In Mumbai, there are three boarding station for the trains to Pune. You can either take the train departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) or the Dadar Terminus (DR).
