In the heart of the Ahmednagar City  there is a Temple of Lord Dattaraya .The Ekmukhi Dattamandir.

The Temple was built by late Dhondopant Tamboli famous Saraf and Savkar in 1860  The owner of the Temple Late Govindrao Tamboli  an orthodox Brahmin and landlord  opend the Temple for Harijans in 1936 Late Gangutai Tamboli arranged HaldiKumkum ceremony for Harijan ladies.

This is the first Temple in India opened to the Harijans

At that time  orthodox Brahmins of the town outcasted Tamboli family for opening the Temple for Harijans.this Temple is a  Jagrut Devasthan.
