Kozhikode Travel Guide

Kozhikode is steeped in tradition, culture and communal harmony. This is the area described by Marco Polo in the year 1320 AD as the Great Province of Malabar. As early as the year 1498 Vascoda Gama landed in Kozhikode. This event marked the beginning of a new era in the history of Kerala which ultimately led to intervention of foreigners in Malabar trade. Kozhikode is especially famous for Ayurvedic system of medicines. About 30 kms. south of Kozhikode city, there is a famous Ayurveda Medical Hospital at Kottakkal. Many passengers, especially from the Middle East, visit this place for treatment particularly for arthritis.
