ValiyaVilla Family Estate in Kollam is a very nice retreat from the crowds, honking, and grunge of the Kerala experience. It is a converted family estate (as the name implies) and has a very small number of rooms. There are wonderful wood accents, clean amenities, and made to order food served on private terraces and decks. The property is at the end of a peninsula and is serviced by a ferry that stops near, the water equivalent of an auto-rickshaw, or my a pre-arranged motorboat from a dock on the mainland.
