Entry Requirements

All visitors to any part of India are required to have a valid passport and a visa. Visitors from all countries must apply for a visa from the nearest Indian Embassy. Visas are not given visas on arrival, so it is important that you apply for a visa prior to traveling to Hampi. You will also need to carry photocopies of your passport, just in case your passport is stolen or lost while you are on vacation in Hampi. You can also make use of the ATMs in the cities to withdraw directly using your local bank debit or credit cards.


If you are traveling to Hampi, you will need to make sure that the weather does not play spoilsport to your vacation. It is not advisable to travel to Hampi during the summer months of April and May as the temperature can get really high to around 43 degrees Celsius or 109.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

There are several historical sites in Hampi. The Achyutaraya Temple, Anegondi, The Underground Temple, The Kings’ Balance and The Madhavan Palace (1,000,000 pillars) are just few of the truly amazing places worth visiting while you are in Hampi.


Just like any other tourist destination, you need to be cautious but not over cautious and ruin your vacation. You might want to be careful as you explore the rocky places, especially when you are climbing boulders. One of the things to watch out for is the monkeys. The monkeys here are notorious for snatching away handbags. If you are visiting during summer, you will need to carry some bottled water and make sure you drink enough water so that you do not get dehydrated.
