Beaches in Gokarna
Edit ThisGokarna beaches are famous for their pureness and beauty. They are the main tourist attraction of the nearby small town of Gokarna, although the place is rather a pilgrimage center than a tourist destination. That actually makes it a great choice for vacation, since it is very calm and quiet, and there aren’t many people around.
Gokarna Beach
Gokarna Beach is located just next to the town. It is straight, wide and very clean, and the place where pilgrims from all over India gather. It is not a common vacation spot, and as a tourist you may prefer one of the other four beaches, as they are more suitable for holiday trips.
Kudle Beach
Kudle Beach is located just 8km south of Gokarna Beach. It is the largest of all and easily accessible by car. Accommodations are available in small huts. An important thing to note: swimming is very dangerous here. There were many cases in the past of people drowning in the waters around Kudle Beach. Only expert swimmers can afford to take the risk, but please keep in mind that there are no lifeguards around to assist you, if something goes wrong.
Om Beach
Om Beach is smaller than Kudle, but more commercially-oriented and hence – much more crowded and expensive. Accommodations are in luxurious cottages at the Om Beach Resort or in small huts on the beach itself. Swimming is safe here and there are some other activities available too: various beach sports, yoga, surfing and water skiing, with qualified instructors taking care for your safety. Om Beach is just an hour away from Gokarna.
Half Moon Beach
Unlike the previous two, Half Moon Beach is accessible only by foot or boat, though very close to Om Beach. It is a very tiny place and the accommodation is in small charming huts, tents and an igloo-like house. If you’re prepared for camping – this option is available too. There’s also a small restaurant called “The Dolphin View” in there, where you can eat some delicious vegetarian food.
Paradise Beach
The Paradise Beach, also known as Full Moon Beach, is the most wild of the bunch. It is very isolated, accessible mainly by boat and very hard to reach by foot. However, accommodation is possible in huts and there are also a couple of restaurants around, specialized in preparing sea and vegetarian food. Paradise Beach is okay for swimming, as long as the water is calm enough.
****************************************************************
There are four main beaches in Gokarna. The Kudle beach, Om beach, Halfmoon beach, and Paradise beach.
All of these beaches have places to stay (called cafes ). No matter where you stay, you must visit all of these idyllic beaches to enjoy the stay to the fullest. Every beach is subtlely different from the others in a very nice way. These are very nice places to spend days and nights relaxing.

Half moon beach
Edit ThisHalf moon beach
A cliff separates Half moon beach from Om beach. It's a wonderful 20
mins hike walking along the sea face of the cliff. There is one shack
on this beach, which also turns into a paddy field in the monsoon
season. Typical Indian village-like huts are spread over a small area
adjoining the beach. Enjoy drawing water from a well and a bath under
the stars, if you stay at this place.

Kudle Beach
Edit ThisA fifteen minute walk over the deccan from Gokarn will bring you to Kudle beach. It has a long crescent shape with large rocky hills at either end. Cafes, most of which double as guesthouses, line the forest edge. The beach is relatively flat, meaning the tide comes pretty far. This effect is most appreciated at sunset when you can walk the length of the beach in 2 inches of water. This also makes part of the beach relatively packed sand, which is great for beach soccer and cricket.

Om Beach
Edit ThisOM Beach
Shaped like the Hindu spiritual symbol of Om, this is the most famous
beach in Gokarna, and has got the best waves and beach-side shacks.
It's a wonderful stay in any of these shacks, called cafes. Expect
thatch hut rooms and common bathrooms in most of them. Though some of
the cafes have rooms with attached bathrooms.
It takes around 20 minutes to reach this beach from Gokarna bus stand.
