Mata Vaishno Devi is located at 5200 feet in the north of Jammu on the Mountain Trikuta. Every year, there are millions of devotees visiting the three deities (Pindies) of the temple, being i.e Maha-Kali, Maha-Lakshmi and Maha-Saraswati. Buses leave at the railway station and from the Bus Stand and take about two hours. Not only this one can access the place thorugh the rail upto the Base point i.e. Katra. Private helicopter are also availble at moderate rates. There is a tremendous growth in the tourists coming to Mata Vaishno Devi. It exceeded the 6.5 million mark in the year 2004. The holy place is significant place of faith for many people. Way enroute to the cave is very beautiful with lots of splendor of nature.

All tourists are requested to collect their Yatra Slip from the yatra registration counter at the tourism reception Centre, Katra Bus Stand, otherwise you will not allowed to in. You don't have to pay for this. Fee/Charge for this Yatra Slip and It is Free. If you're walking, take an offical road. You can also hire a horse for approximately Rs130.
