Getting Around in Pong Dam Lake Ramsar Sanctuary

Edit This
There are many anglers, who swear by Pong and there are many who would not go there for anything in the world. Fishing at Pong is not an easy task, as one needs mobility in terms of a boat. Furthermore, there are days when the water boils around you with fish jumping all over the place, but not a bite to be had. Then there are those days, when you think twice about going out onto the water, but if and when you do, there is no stopping as to the amount of fish you can catch. Our record is 34 fish in a morning, using two rods, with the average weight of the fish being about 8 lbs. each

There is good game for Rohu (Labeo Rohita) and Singhada (Sperata Aor), Sol (Channa Micropeltes) and Mully (Wallagoo Attu). Rohu can only be fished for during the monsoons, as it refuses to take any form of bait for the rest of the year. Singhada can be fished for using dead/live bait or a Mepps No. 3/4, being reeled in very slowly parallel to the bank. The mully along with the Sol, however, can only be fished using live bait. Sol sometimes takes a slow moving plug or a spinner, but this is very rare.
