Goa is another area renowned for its beaches. Possessing nearly 100 km lined with golden sand, Goa is a popular area for expats from around the world to enjoy the beach and party. Made popular as a hippie hangout in the 1960s, Goa has a bohemian style not seen in many other parts of India. There are many hotels and resorts in communities all along the coast where you can stay right on the water for a decent price. Many beaches have food and drink service directly on the beach from the associated hotels, making spending the day at the beach quite relaxing. Popular Goan beaches include Anjuna, Baga and Dona Paula.

Karnataka Beaches
Though Karnataka is not generally thought of as a beach destination, there are many stunning beaches in the state. The biggest beach areas here are Malpe, Ullal and Suratkal beaches. With only small beach cottages and some medium-sized hotels in these areas, the beaches here are rather quiet and undisturbed and are great places to go for a relaxing or romantic weekend. Enjoy the cuisine of Mangalore here while relaxing in a pristine location.

Tamil Nadu Beaches
The best known beaches in Tamil Nadu include Pondicherry Beach, Marina Beach in Chennai, Velankanni Beach, Muttukadu Beach and Rameshwaram beach. Varkala Beach

One of the most serene and beautiful beaches in India. Varkala - with religious significance it gives a tourist the pleasure of unexploited beige, blue and ofcourse green [hey! you are in Kerala]. So, if you are planning for a natural, yet to be commercialised beach you have to head for Varkala which is about 45Km from Thiruvananthapuram. Capital of Kerala, India. And you can renounce your's and your forefathers sins by dipping in the waters since it is believed to cleanse you off these sins. And do visit the Janarthan Temple nearby.

ULLAL Beach

Edit This

Ullal has all the romanticism of a single winding road that connects the fishing village on the North to the gigantic Someshwar Rock on the South. Lying like a beached whale, with the ocean frothing and surfing on the 3 sides, it broods over the beach, carrying memories of its heroic Abbaka Rani. On a promontory to the Left is the Temple of AbakkaRani dating back to the 16th Century.  A vibrant queen, who defended this coastal hamlet from the ----- Portuguese fleets, she fell a victim to court intrigues and more..
