Hyderabadi cuisine is largely dominated by the Biryani, which is a rich preparation of meat cooked with flavoured rice cooked with nuts and other aromatic spices. Originally invented to feed the Nizam's armies in the field, it has since moved up from its humble beginnings. Apart from the biryani, other Mughlai staples like the Halim are also a must have. The best places to try these out are invariably in the "old" city.
