Accommodation in Bumthang

The Swiss Guest house is the best place to stay in Bhumthang. It is in an orchard overlooking the valley and has a great view of the town and Dzong. It is owned by a Swiss chap namwd Fritz Maurer who has lived in Bhutan for thirty years. He also produces Bhutan's only beer, Red Panda, makes the best cheese in Bhutan from dairy stock he originally imported from Switzerland, and various other products. The food in the restaurant at the Swiss Guest House is the finest you will find in Central Bhutan.

The rooms are basic but clean, ask for one with a fireplace and a view.
