When to Go in Cox's bazar
Edit ThisIn Cox's Bazar, when to go depends on the weather and type of season you prefer. The climate of this region is very similar to that of the rest of the country, and the average annual temperature is approximately 34.8 degrees Celsius to 16.1 degrees Celsius. On average, the region receives 4,285 mm of rain a year. Cox's Bazar is located within Bangladesh and is widely known for its beautiful sandy beaches. The region has also been referred to as "Panowa", meaning "yellow flower." While Cox's Bazar is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Bangladesh, it is not yet an international tourist spot. Read on to learn more about the different seasons and climates to expect while traveling to Cox's Bazar.
Hot and Rainy Summer
The climate of Cox's Bazar features a tropical monsoon-type, meaning it is hot and rainy during the summer and dry in the winter months. During the summer you can expect excessive humidity, high temperatures and very heavy rainfall. April is the warmest month in the region, with temperatures ranging from 33 degrees Celsius to 36 degrees Celsius. Cox's Bazar is one of the wettest areas in the world, as is most of Bangladesh. The majority of the rainfall occurs during the monsoon season, which is June through September.
Cox's Bazar is prone to cyclones that can cause much devastation and destruction. The storms originate over the Bay of Bengal, usually during the periods of April to May and September to November. These cyclones can be accompanied by large waves that can cause massive havoc if severe enough.
Visitors
should wear lightweight cottons and linens when traveling to Cox's
Bazar, especially during the hot summer months. Waterproof clothing may
be required if visiting during the rainy monsoon season.
Dry Winter
Because
of the tropical monsoon-type climate of Cox's Bazar, it features very
dry winters in contrast to the wet summers. January is the coolest
month and averages around 26 degrees Celsius in temperature. Very
little precipitation occurs in the winter, and when it does it happens
from November to February. In addition, the reversal of the wind
circulation between winter and summer largely affects the climate of
this region.
When traveling to Cox's Bazar during the winter, visitors should have warmer outfits for the evenings. During the day, travelers should wear slightly lightweight clothing.
