Cox's Bazar is located in South Eastern Bangladesh. It is also known as Panowa, which means "yellow flower." Cox's Bazar is famous for it's magnificent beaches; however, there are many other attractions in and around Cox's Bazar. Cox's Bazar is attracting more tourists every year from regions of India as well as international tourists. Aggmeda Khyang

Agghmeda Kehyanh is a magnificent Buddhist monastery visited by thousands of Buddhists from the surrounding areas. There is a prayer chamber, assembly hall, Buddha images and manuscripts. The main chamber is supported by timber columns. The Aggmeda Khyang is located by the entrance to the town. The majority of the Buddha images originate from Burma. Aggmeda Khyang is at the bottom of a hill and is nestled in between trees.

Ramu

Just 10 kilometers outside Cox's Bazar is a village called Ramu. The population is predominantly Buddhist and there are many monasteries and pagodas. In the village you can see many handicrafts and sample the village's famous cigars. Weavers display their work outside their workshops and people make cigars in their houses. There is a fascinating temple on the Baghkhali river that has Burmese crafts and a huge statue of Buddha. Woodcarving is another specialty of the village. Ramu can be reached by a 30 minute bus ride. Other transport options are taxi and minivan.

Dulhazra Safari Park

The Safari Park is part of an animal sanctuary and is home to many native elephants. Visitors can also go for elephant rides. Other animals include lions, crocodiles and Bengal tigers. The park is host to a variety of bird and monkey species

Beaches

The beach at Cox's Bazar is breath taking as the sandy beach stretches for 120 km. While sitting on the golden sand you can enjoy the expanse of ocean in front of you while behind you towers hills and forests. This is the perfect backdrop to watch the sunset. Conditions are often suitable for surfing. The water is warm and therefore it is pleasant to go swimming.

Moheshkhali

This island is located off the coast of Cox's Bazar. The island is 268 square kilometers. It takes 15 minutes to reach by speed boat and 30 minutes to reach by trawler. Boats leave regularly. The island has beautiful hills that are covered in forests. There are temples and Buddhist Pagodas to visit on the island as well as the shrine of Adinath. The fishing villages are good places to see how local fishermen live.
