Things to do in Cox's bazar
Edit ThisCox Bazar, blessed with the longest sandy beach in the world, is located in Bangladesh. The Cox Bazar town is a port area and is well known for its health resorts. The beach is undoubtedly the most famous attractions. As it is not widely advertised, it remains fairly unknown and hence, can make for a quiet romantic retreat without having to face the problems associated with a typical tourist spot.
Saint Martin, Maheshkali and Sonadia Islands
The only coral island in Bangladesh, the Saint Martin Island is a must see. It is a coral jewel and is located at the southern most part of Bangladesh, in Teknaf. The island's local name is 'Narical Gingira’; the literal translation is 'Coconut Island'. Visit this beautiful coral island and let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of the corals – a sight worth seeing.
Himachari, Inani and Laboni Beach
Located 32 km from Cox's Bazar, Himachari is a nature lover’s paradise. The serene waterfalls and hills make for a picturesque locale. The best time to visit is early mornings. Inani beach is 30 minutes drive from Cox's Bazar, on the cost of Bay of Bengal. Another main beach is the Laboni Beach, which is located closest to Cox Bazar. This is a comparatively busy beach and you will find several shops selling souvenirs and other items of interest to the tourists.
The Dulhazra Safari Park
The
Dulhazra Safari park, located 50 km from Cox's Bazar is a safari park that
provides elephant rides. This park is an extension of an animal sanctuary and
has a wide variety of animals. Bengal tigers are the main attraction
here.
Ramu
Ramu,
a Buddhist village 10 km from Cox's Bazaar, is famous for handicrafts that are
made by local craftsmen. It is on the Chittagong highway. This village has
several Buddhist monasteries and carries pagodas of Buddha. A 13 feet high
statue of Buddha is the highlight here. This village is also well known for its
homemade cigars.
Aggmeda Kyang and Rangmati
Home to numerous bronze statues of Buddha, the Aggmeda Kyang is made up of timber columns. The assembly hall and the chamber for prayer are spectacular. Rangmati, has become popular as it is the largest Buddhist temple in Bangladesh, and has other attractions like a manmade lake, a hanging bridge, and activities like cruising and boat rides.
