Senior Travel in Cox's bazar
Edit ThisThe main tourist hub of Bangladesh, Cox's Bazar offers some advantages and disadvantages. Cox's Bazar definitely offers a tropical vacation, but it is less developed, or polished, than many other beach resort areas in the region. Still, there are some beautiful beaches and some great sights to see in Cox's Bazar and the surrounding area. Cox's Bazar Senior Travel offers those who are trying to steer clear of the beaten path of tourist traps without having to sacrifice top-quality sun and sand. If you want a luxurious beach resort vacation you should probably look elsewhere; and likewise if you are trying to see nature at it's most pristine. But if you want something in the middle, and an opportunity to see a new part of the world, check out Cox's Bazar.
Head Down to the Beach
By far the main attraction of Cox's Bazar is the coastline. In addition to the beaches, you can see Buddhist temples, some of which are very beautiful. Although Cox's Bazar does attract tourists from all over, it is primarily the prime destination for Bangladeshis on vacation, so expect to stick out a little more than you might in a major tourist town. The beach gets the busiest the closer you are to the main hotel area towards the center of town, so if you are looking for peace and quiet you would probably be well served to head down south to Inani Beach.
Saint Martins Island
If you find that the beaches around Cox's Bazar are to busy for your tastes, there is a way out. To get to Saint Martin's Island take the bus or drive to Teknaf, a small town on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh.
There is not much to see here, but if you find yourself waiting for the
ferry you can peruse the local market, which contains a variety of
goods, some made there but most smuggled in from nearby islands. The
ferry will take about 2 or 3 hours to drop you off on the island. There
is a small village on Saint Martins, containing a handful of
restaurants, shops and small hotels, but the main attractions are the
pristine beaches and wonderful scenery. There is also a Sea Turtle
hatchery on the west side of the island, although it's not meant to be
a tourist attraction, it is still interesting, and you will sometimes
see the turtles around the island.
