7 Day Itinerary in Cox's bazar
Edit ThisCox's Bazaar is the tourist capital of Bangladesh and home of the world's longest natural beach. However, there is more to this ancient city and lots to see. If you are planning a trip to Bangladesh, consider this Cox's Bazaar itinerary.
Day 1
The Aggameda Khyang Monastery is not far from the entrance to the town of Cox's Bazaar. A Buddhist monastery, it is a place of tranquil beauty. The sanctuary rests on a series of timber columns along with the assembly hall and prayer chamber. There are a collection of bronze Buddha statues that complete the serenity.
Day 2
Sonadia Island is a short distance from Cox's Bazaar. Walk along the western seashore and look at all the different varieties of shells. On the northern side of the island there are beds of oysters. Sonadia Island is also the sanctuary for many varieties of migratory birds. The entire island is only 9 square km, so plan on exploring the island and having lunch before going back to Cox's Bazaar.
Day 3
Take a boat to St. Martin's Island, a small island in the Bay of Bengal. This is an excellent place for scuba diving or snorkeling, as the island is the country's only coral island. During low tide, St Martin's Island is connected to several islands, Zinjira, Ciradia and Galachira, which become smaller islands during high tide.
Day 4
Journey about 16 km from Cox's Bazaar and visit the Buddhist village of Ramu. The village includes monasteries and pagodas as well as many Buddha statues made of bronze and gold. The temple on the Baghkhali river has a 13 foot high bronze statue of Buddha that sits on a 6 feet high pedestal.
Day 5
Spend the day on the beach. Cox's Bazaar beach is the perfect place for tanning because the tide is minimal. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the day in the waves or just spend the day laying in the sand.
Day 6
Rent a car and drive along the marine coast of the Bay of Bengal, to the towns of Himchari and Inani. The waterfalls of Himchari, the magnificent "Broken Hills" and the beaches of Inani are located 32 km south of Cox's Bazaar and are the perfect place to visit, or for a picnic.
Day 7
The town of Teknaf is at the very southern tip of Bangladesh. The wide sandy beaches, lush green forest and the animals make for an enchanting visit. A ride on the Naaf river is something you will remember forever. The river runs between Teknaf and Mayanmar, and offers an incredible scenery.
