Love Motels

The second cheapest accommodations in Ulsan and in other cities in South Korea are the love motels. Yes, it is true that love motels are enjoyed by Koreans engaging in clandestine activities. However, tourists love them too. Love motels are typically centrally located, cheap and clean. They always have tile or fake wood floors and never carpet. Showers are always hot with great pressure and there is free toothpaste, shampoo and body soap. Ask your taxi driver for a “luv-uh mo-tell”, there are usually several grouped in one area. Quite often they have neon signs with their names in English and the parking area is blocked from sight. These hotels will not appear on any website and don’t expect anyone to speak English (that’s part of the fun). Luckily they all speak the international language of Visa and Mastercard.
