With its main street lined by massive kurazukuri (warehouse style) buildings, the city has been nicknamed "Little Edo" (Edo is Tokyo's former name). The main hotel in Kawagoe is the Kawagoe Prince Hotel and is a luxury stay in this city. A highlight for tourists is the Kashiya Yokocho, a narrow alley lined by many candy stores. Also, you may want to view The Bell of Time, a bell tower originally built by the order of Sakai Tadakatsu between 1624 and 1644.
