When to Go in Kyoto

While you will be fighting for lodging and amenities with many other tourists during the spring and fall seasons this is the best time to make a trek to Japan. The temples flanked by cherry blossom trees are sure to delight all visitors young and old. Where else can you find that picturesque beauty of Japan that you find in your imagination. During your spring stay you will definitely need a light jacket and pants. With highs in April only averaging 66 F you will want to be prepared in case of any northerly winds.

As summer turns to fall so do the leaves turn to bright reds and oranges. This beautiful sight will never be replicated anywhere else in the world. The trees line streets and temple bridges showering you with the lovely fall foliage. Walk along the Kamo River and enjoy the breeze while enjoying the natural beauty of the leaves. During the fall season you should be able to get away with pants and a short sleeve shirt during the day. Be sure to pack a light weight jacket for evenings out in the city.

No matter when you choose to travel to Kyoto don’t be surprised to see geishas in the streets as this is a city that still participates in a lot of the old world traditions. The temples are actively used so be sure that you follow any and all stated guidelines. The last thing you want to do is disrespect the people of this gorgeous city.
