Himeji Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeThe city's main claim to fame, is the splendid castle that sits on a
hill overlooking it. In fact, the castle is visible from the Shinkansen
tracks! If you only visit one castle in Japan, make it this one. It has
extensive grounds, and an interesting display of items in the main
dojon. The view from the top of the castle over the whole of Himeji is
splendid.
To get the castle, you can walk straight down the main drag for about 15 minutes. Alternatively, there is a covered arcade the runs parallel to the main drag, which is quite useful, if the weather is not cooperative.
