While there is plenty to do in this city there are several Zhong Shan must do’s that should not be missed. There are some beautiful scenic spots that are considered some of the best in the world.

The Scenic Wugui Mountain

Wugui Mountain is actually 9 different mountain ranges and 7 different towns. It is found at the mouth of the Pearl River. On Nantai Mountain is the South Platform in autumn which is a famous scenic spot. There are many natural spots throughout the area and several garden areas. The Wugui forest park has many paths for mountain bikes, running and hiking. You can reach the mountain by taking the No 11A or 11B public bus.

On a Quest for Chrysanthemums

Zhong Shan is known for its chrysanthemums and there is a Chrysanthemum Art Festival held each year in November. Many people visit the city just to see the blossoms. Almost every garden will contain chrysanthemums. Chrysanthemums can be found in the Beijing Botanical Gardens, Beihai Park and Zhongshan Park.

In Remembrance of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen

The mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is very important as the city is named after him. He is thought to be the father of modern China and was born in what is now known as Zhong Shan. The mausoleum was built in 1926 and contains his tomb. It is located at the base of Zhong Shan Mountain and has some spectacular views. There is a tablet pavilion, tomb path, tomb chamber, sacrificial hall, mausoleum gate and more.

Zhong Shan Square and Park

Zhongshan Square is actually in the financial district and surrounded by beautiful historic buildings. This is a social hub as many people gather to watch sports from the big screen in the Dalian Hotel or to hang out with friends. This spot was where ancient emperors offered sacrifices to the gods at the Altar to the Gods of Land and Grain. This is the only structure of its kind that is still standing. There is an inner and outer section which colors represent directions. Other structures in the park include the Practicing Pavilion, stone lions, stone Ketteler Arch and the pavilion housing originally found in YuanMingYuan Garden.

Polar Animals at Tiger Beach

Tiger Beach is one of the most popular tourist spots. There is a polar aquarium that contains many polar marine animals. This is the largest Polar aquarium found in the world. Along 1 section of the beach is a promenade and the other is steep and rocky with cliffs that go into the sea. There are tiger sculptures found in the gardens.
