Family Travel Ideas in Zhong Shan
Edit ThisZhong Shan in China is not as built up as Beijing and other cities and this means that Zhong Shan family travel is much more relaxed as you can sit back and enjoy the view. There are a lot of scenic spots in and around the city as well as historical buildings, leisure activities and more.
Zhongshan Park
Zhongshan Park is a great place to escape the busier and more built-up sections of the city. Families will enjoy it as it allows you to slow down. There are also awe-inspiring buildings to explore and areas specifically for children to play. The Fufeng Pagoda is located inside the park. This was completed in 1608 and you can see it from anywhere in the city as it is 7 stories high. Near the pagoda is the Sun Yat-Sen memorial pavilion. The town is named after Dr. Sun who is considered the father of modern China. The town is also named after him. You can also rent a boat and travel around the Forbidden City, always a favorite for children.
Sun Wen Xi Road
It is worth it to walk down Sun Wen XI Road. You do not have to worry about cars or other vehicles as this is strictly a pedestrian road. Adults and children alike will enjoy viewing the sculptures and murals that line the street. This road also commemorates Dr. Sun Yat-Sen and is full of the local culture and history of the area.
A Great Scenic Spot
The Green Cascade of the Yangtze River is a must for everyone as this is one of the top scenic spots in the country. This scenic spot is only 9 km from town. The river is surrounded by green hills which are reflected in the water. It is the green reflection that is referred to as the Green Cascade. Adults and children alike enjoy a cruise on the river. This is the best way to see the Green Cascade and should be on the top of your list as a family outing.
Play Some Golf and Enjoy the Hot Springs
If the weather is particularly warm, spend the day at the Chung Shan Hot Spring Golf Club. The adults can partake in a game of golf or enjoy the hot springs and spa. The kids can cool off in the swimming pool. The golf course is particularly tough as it was designed by some of the best golfers in the golfing world. The club also has accommodations available.
Rare and Unusual Animals at the Zoo
For a wonder of animals unique to Asia take a trip to the Zhong Shan Zoo. Zoos are always a big family draw and this one has some special rare animals that include the muntiacus reevesi, cockatoo, white ox, yellow billed stork and the liger. A liger is actually part tiger and part lion and very rare. The zoo was completely renovated in 2007 and contains a large range of animals. Enjoy a great day out together as a family and see some rare and interesting animals.
