7 Day Itinerary in Zhong Shan

This Zhong Shan Itinerary lists some things to do over 7 days when visiting this Chinese city. Zhong Shan itself has a rich historical background and was, interestingly, once known as Xiangshan County.

Day 1 - Visit the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

It was in this very town that one of the main men of the Chinese Revolution, Sun Yat-sen, was born. As a tribute to him, the city came to be known by his family name Zhong Shan. You can learn more about Zhong Shan when you just arrive in this city by visiting the Dr.Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, located at the city center. Another place to learn more about the history of Zhong Shan is the Dr.Sun Yat-sen museum in the Cuiheng Village.

Day 2 - Take a Trip to Wugui Mountain

Make a trip to the famous Wugui Mountain, which lies at a height of 1,740 feet above the Pearl River. Buses are readily available to take you there. You'll get to enjoy a good view and many types of flora. Once you're back in the actual city of Zhong Shan, you may want to relax. Head to the renowned Friends Bar and Club, where you can meet new people and enjoy good food and drinks.

Day 3 - Shopping

Head straight for Sun Wen XI Road, which is dotted with shops that sell everything from clothes, shoes and accessories to Chinese souvenirs. However, if you want to go a bit upscale, head to the Fenguan Business Road, which has many stores that sell luxury brands.

Day 4 - Visit Xialan County

Visit the Xialan County in Zhong Shan, a place known for its pretty flowers like Chrysanthemums. Once you reach, you'll see that most houses have their own garden that is well tended to and filled with blossoms. And, if you happen to visit Zhong Shan during the autumn months of October through November, then you must visit Xialan County for the flower fair.

Day 5 - Tour the Italina DIY Zone

Enjoy a meal at Zhong Shan's plethora of stalls and restaurants.  Local snacks can be procurred from street stalls. Afterwards, head to the Italina DIY Zone in Tanzhou, which houses an interesting do-it-yourself jewelry zone. Here, you can take in information about various kinds of Chinese jewelry and also design your very own accessory!

Day 6 - Visit the Nanshan Temple

Visit the mystical Nanshan Ancient Worshiping Forest, located around 4 km from Zhong Shan and is accessible by car. Legend has it that a temple called the Nanshan Ancient Temple lay in this forest and was built in the 18th year of the Republic of China, but destroyed during China's Cultural Revolution.

Day 7 - Stop at the Jianguo Brewery

Visit the Jianguo Brewery where you can have a look at the preparation of different spirits. You do not have to pay any fee. You can also enjoy good food and drinks at the brewery's restaurant.
