Jiuzhaigou lies in the north of Sichuan Province. It is in the midst of picturesque scenery with lakes, waterfalls, mountains, forests and plant reserves. The area itself was admitted into the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list in 1992.
Originally, the name of the valley (Nine-valley village) comes from nine Tibetan villages scattered around it.

The two day entrance fee is 220 RMB, passes can be purchased at the front gate, but you have to make sure that you get your picture taken in the room next to the ticket booth to be able to re-enter the park on the second day.
