Shopping at Nathan Road

Nathan Road is named after a major in the British Royal Engineers. During Nathan's time, this road used to be filled with banyan trees, but now is a hectic commercial center filled with jewelry shops, electronics stores and hundreds of fashion outlets. While visiting Kowloon, the shopping at Nathan Road and its cross streets is one of the most recalled images by tourists. Pubs

One noticeable trend in the Kowloon night life has been the rebirth of pubs and taverns, which are a direct transfer from its British counterparts. Given the noticeable British presence for many years in Hong Kong, it is no surprise that many British pubs opened new branches here. The first of this kind is the Bull and Bear, located in the Central district of Kowloon at 58 Jaffe Road. Beware of Japanese Businessmen Tourist Traps

The same prudent rules of common sense while going out apply here in Kowloon as in any other fun loving city. The after hours scene in Kowloon can be a lot of fun, but visitors should be very aware when visiting topless or Japanese-style bars. A lot of these bars are designed with the Japanese businessman's pocketbook in mind, so they are aimed at big spenders. A good rule of thumb is if you have to ask the price of admission of a nightclub or bar, then this place isn't for you. Also, beware of piling on drinks while running a tab, to avoid any bad surprises. It's better to settle your bar tab with every drink ordered.
