One of the largest cities in South China offers some of the best Guangzhou shopping as this city is popular for both Chinese citizens as well as international travelers. Guangzhou is one of the main trade centers for China and you can find a range of goods at all different price points. There are several very famous shopping districts that cater to a range of clientele.
Famous Shopping Streets in Guangzhou - Shangxia Jiu Lu Pedestrian Street
One of the most famous shopping areas is Shangxia Jiu Lu situated at the Liwan District of Xiguan. This is the very first pedestrian street found in the city and there are over 200 stores lining the street. There are many jade stores but if you want jade in particular than you should visit Hualin Jadeware Street. Some other stores of interest include Wende Calligraphy and Painting Street as well as the retail stores of Samuel & Kevin and Giordano.
Shuiyin Road – Costume Street
In case you are looking for a costume you should visit what is known as Costume Street which is right on the border of Yuiexiu and Tianhe districts. This street has over 30 stores that sell only costumes. You can get some great deals in the off-season as most costumes are purchased around the holidays. The prices of these costumes will differ depending on the type you want. Expect to pay about 20RMB for a simpler costume or 100RMB for a more ornate piece.
Lihua Street
The Palace Mall, which is located on Liuhua Street, contains a collection of popular brand clothing stores. You can find Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry, Hugo Boss and more. This is the spot for up-market shoppers looking for clothing, handbags and shoes.
Extraordinary Markets Not to Be Missed
You also should not miss out on any of the fantastic markets in Guangzhou. One of the most famous is the dried seafood market, Yide Lu Market. Here you can find some of the rare seafood items such as abalone, cuttlefish and shark’s fins. Qingping Market is a must visit where you can find a whole assortment of medicines, animals, food and much more. This is the spot for true authentic Chinese items.
Shopping on Shamian Island
Those looking for authentic embroidery need to visit Shamian Island. Embroidered items can also be found on Jiaoyue Road and Xinhu Lu at the night markets. These night markets will start at dusk and go until midnight. This is a great way to do some shopping and see some of the nightlife. A few other noteworthy markets include New Haiyin Wool and Cloth Exchange Square, Huangsha Pen and Stationary Wholesale Market and the Huahan Antiques & Jade Market.

IKEA
Edit ThisFor tourists, IKEA is more like an attraction than a shopping destination. Obviously you don't want to buy furnitures here to bring them home. But it may be fasinating to look at, comparing to your IKEA at home.
If you miss bad American food, you can get 6-yuan hot dog with drink; 1-yuan ice cream, and 8-yuan chicken salad.
If you crave Swedish snacks, grab some here for the plane.
