Guangzhou is a major city in China and due to its proximity to the coast there are many Guangzhou beaches where you can relax, soak up some sun and enjoy the water. The weather is warm all year round so you will always have good weather for the beach. The beaches are actually a bit outside of the city but they make excellent day trips.

Da Mei Sha Beach Park and Promenade

Da Mei Sha is 1 of the 2 main beaches closest to Guangzhou. The train is the easiest way to get there. Along the beach is the promenade which is an important tourist attraction. In order to gain access to the beach you must pay the entrance fee to the beach park. The beach offers many different water sports such as motor boating, beach volleyball and parachuting.

The beach park is separated into 3 different sections--Sun Square, Moon Square and Wish Tower. Sun Square is the central section of the park and is the best area for sunbathing. There are change rooms and toilets available. Moon Square has all of the shops as well as a flipping field. Wish Tower is an actual tower which you can climb to the top.

Xiao Mei Sha Seaside Resort

Xiao Mei Sha is another fantastic beach near Guangzhou. It is on Dapeng Bay and has some of the most beautiful ocean scenery along the coast. This beach contains many camps, hotels, guesthouses and villas. The beach itself is only 1,000 meters long but it is famous for its clean water. You can participate in parachuting, sea yachting and motor boating. The beach at night is particularly fun as you can enjoy the BBQs and bonfires. This is a very popular seaside resort and beach and is a main tourist draw.

Beaches on Hainan Island

Hainan Island is another popular beach destination that is a short journey from Guangzhou. This island is in the South China Sea and because there is not much industry the beaches are very clean, beautiful and not crowded. You can easily get to the island by a ferry or flying. The weather is always comfortable and the ocean water is quite warm. Some of the popular water sports include surfing, diving, boating and snorkeling.

Surf Beaches

There are several surf beaches near Guangzhou. The main surf beaches are Tat Mun Island, Shelter island, Repulse Bay, Lantau Island and Fung Bay. These beaches have some of the best surfing as the waves break close to the land. Check the weather and surf conditions before going out for the day.
