7 Day Itinerary in Guangzhou
Edit ThisFollowing is a Guangzhou itinerary for 7 days that will help tourists enjoy some of the best places in this Chinese city.
Day 1 - Yuexiu Park
Start your 7-day itinerary in Guangzhou with a visit to the Yuexiu Park, which is the largest park in the city. Built in 1952, the park was named after the Yuexiu Mountain and consists of 7 hummocks and 3 artificial lakes. All through the year, the park has fragrant flowers, antiques, beautiful waters and hills that make it an ideal place to visit. The park has Linnan-styled and elegantly engraved towers, platforms, corridors and pavilions.
Day 2 -Temple of 6 Banyan Trees
On the second day of your tour in Guangzhou, visit the Temple of 6 Banyan Trees. This ancient monastery is world famous and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is one of the most interesting and spiritual places in the city due to its valuable heritage, dense trees, numerous antiques and majestic towers. The temple has a 57.6 meter high Flower Pagoda which is the tallest old structure in Guangzhou. As it is located in the heart of the city, there are numerous places to see and restaurants where you can stop to eat.
Day 3 - Guangzhou Museum and Pearl River Cruise
For your third day in the city, visit the Guangzhou Museum of Art which houses sculptures of 12 Chinese sculptors. There is a French restaurant close by where you can lunch. Then take a cruise on the Pearl River, which is close to the museum. This part of the river is probably the most scenic as there are many famous sights here. Tourists are provided with detailed information to the cultural and historical sites that are seen on the cruise. It is not only a perfect way to end the day but also an ideal way to appreciate the local culture.
Day 4 - White Clouds Mountain
Tourists should visit the White Clouds Mountain on their fourth day in Guangzhou. This is a historic attraction mainly because it consists of about 30 peaks. A trip to this mountain is ideal for tourists looking for a little adventure as it provides paths to trek to the top. Once at the top, tourists can enjoy the beautiful scenery around.
Day 5 - Xiangjiang Safari Park
For a more fun experience of the city, visit the Xiangjiang Safari Park on your fifth day. Open from 9:30 a.m. until about 4:30 p.m., you may have to head to this zoo early as there are numerous animals to see. Tourists can even feed some of them. There are playgrounds with rides for children that provide a relaxing break from seeing the animals. If you want to speed up your tour of the zoo, you can opt for the Safari on Wheels that takes you through the zoo on a mini-train.
Day 6 - Diaolou and Kaiping Villages
On your sixth day, visit the Diaolou and Kaiping Villages which are located to the southwest of Guangzhou in Kaiping. This historic place has become a World heritage Site and offers tourists a glimpse into old Chinese times. These villages are tranquil and are a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. You’ll have to buy an entry ticket to the village. Some villagers have turned their homes into tiny restaurants where you can eat.
Day 7 - Orchid Garden
On your seventh day, visit the Orchid Garden which is located at Jeifang Bei Lu, in the heart of the city. Enjoy the tropical plants, fish ponds, palm trees and orchids. This is a wonderful blend of an ancient and modern Chinese garden. There are several tea houses in the garden where you can enjoy some tea and sweets in beautiful surroundings. It is a pleasant way to end your 7-day trip to Guangzhou.
