China is quickly growing and changing and this makes China family travel a lot of fun as there is something for everyone. While the history of China is extensive and there are plenty of historic and cultural sites to visit, there are also many other interactive and thrilling adventures waiting for you. Since China has the largest population and geographic landmass in the world, it will take more than 1 trip to see this beautiful country.

Visiting Beijing

Beijing is high on the list of places to visit as this city contains some of the most historical sites in the country. Explore the largest palace in the world, the Forbidden City. Visit historic Tiananmen Square to fly a kite or visit the Beijing Zoo to see the giant pandas. You should not only see but climb the Great Wall of China and in the evening everyone will love seeing a Kung Fu show.

Adventures in the Countryside

Visiting the countryside is also preferable due to the many different outdoor activities. There are options for those looking for vigorous exercise or those who prefer a more leisurely approach to the day. What better way to ensure everyone gets a good night’s sleep then by biking or hiking for most of the day and taking in the gorgeous scenery of Yanshuo and Guilin. This area contains many rice paddies and small villages where you can cruise down the river on a traditional bamboo raft or take a bike trip through the countryside. The scenery from the Li River is some of the most spectacular in China. You will regularly come across water buffalo.

The Leshan Buddha

If you are in Chengdu then you should make a day trip to see the Leshan Buddha. Everyone will giggle when they see this huge Buddha, the largest in the world. The park that contains the Buddha also has several play areas and picnic spots for a great family day in the outdoors. The Buddha was carved out of the hill side in order to appease the water spirits so they would protect the boats on the river.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Hong Kong is a huge metropolitan city and if your family should not miss out on a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. Disneyland is the perfect spot for families and is a main tourist draw for Hong Kong. This is the newest Disney theme park and opened in 2005. You can experience the many adventures of Winnie the Pooh, take a Jungle River Cruise, attend the Festival of the Lion King, go rafting at Tarzan’s Tree House and attend Mickey’s PhilharMagic.

Shanghai

A truly mystifying city to visit is Shanghai as this is where the East and the West meet and mix. This is one of the most vibrant cities in China and families find it jaw-dropping with new wonders around every corner. Explore the bazaars for a souvenir for everyone and have each member of the family purchase a different type of food and then try a little bit of everything. Make sure you go to the top of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the tallest in Asia.
