Family Travel Ideas
Edit ThisFujairah in the United Arab Emirates has several points of interest and things to do for families who are vacationing. Although there are little benefits, like discounted prices for children, it is still a great place to come and enjoy the sun and beaches.
Hotels
Hotels run the gambit from budget to the luxury resorts on the beaches. Many of the luxury hotels have spas and wellness centers and not much for children inside, but out on the beach the kids can have a great time swimming and or by renting ski jets and water scooters. There is a coral reef where snorkeling is popular, but make sure you already know how to snorkel when you go. If you are guests at the Le Meridien Al Aqah resorts you can go diving. Lessons are given and certified divers can explore old shipwrecks and corals.
Ain Al Madham Gardens
Take the children to Ain Al Madham Gardens in the foothills of the Hajar Mountains. There are mineral springs here but also an outdoor theater. Heritage village is here and you can explore displays of fishing boats, pottery and ruins of an old fort. There are traditional houses to explore as well. Many festivals are celebrated here with dancing and singing. There is an extensive playground here for the children and a small zoo.
Fujairah Museum
Fujairah Museum has an exhibition of traditional life in Fujairah and has some artifacts that date back to the early Bronze Age. Bithna fort is a ruin and a great place to explore with the kids.
Al Yaqout
There is a paintball area called Al Yaqout in one of the suburbs of the city called Al Gurfah. You can rent overalls to protect your clothing from the paint and equipment to play. Kids love playing paintball and it is relatively safe. It is open 9am to 12pm then from 3pm to 12am and cost is Dh75 per person and that includes all equipment. You will have to make reservations.
Masafi Friday Market
The Masafi Friday Market takes place outside of town. It is open every day, believe it or not, from 8am to 10pm and you can shop for produce and other foods. It is fun to see all the vendors put their wares out for sale. You can find woven fabric and baskets and pottery being sold as well.
Fujairah is a developing tourist area and although it is relatively
young there are still many things for a family to participate in and
have a lot of fun.
