Museums in Abu dhabi

Edit This

During your trip to Abu Dhabi, you must visit the magnificent structures of Abu Dhabi Museums which are believed to be the cultural assets of the capital. Some of the awe-inspiring museums of Abu Dhabi include the following:

Al Ain National Museum

The Al Ain Museum is the epitome of cultural heritage of the people in Abu Dhabi. The museum is compartmentalized into 3 sections namely archaeology, ethnography and a gifts section. The archaeological section displays an extensive collection of artifacts ranging from the Stone Age to the Islamic Period. The ethnography section gives more intimate details about the Stone Age and the Islamic Period through the presentation of ancient relics. The gift section sells a variety of gifts for you to buy for yourself, your friends or your relatives. Opposite the museum is situated the Sultan Fort built by the grandfather of the current president of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa. The fort is worth seeing for its unique mud-brick and clay structure.

Guggenheim and Louvre Museums

Full-fledged preparation is underway to transform Saadiyat Island into the veritable cultural haven of Abu Dhabi. Over $ 1 billion is being spent by the Abu Dhabi government to construct 2 of the world’s most fascinating museums in the region. The Guggenheim will be the biggest museum in the world, featuring a wide spectrum of modern and contemporary arts. On the other hand, the Louvre Abu Dhabi inspired by the famous Louvre Museum of France will have 2 sections, 1 for permanent and the other for temporary exhibitions of archaeological works or artifacts, fine arts and decorative arts. The Louvre Museum of Abu Dhabi is timed to open in 2012, and Guggenheim 1 year earlier.
