Beaches in Pamukale
Edit ThisWhen traveling to the Pamukkale, Aegean region of Turkey, you unfortunately will not find any Pamukkale Beaches. The city of Pamukkale sits inland to the southeast and even though there are no coastal beaches here, you will find another reason to visit this beautiful part of country that's just as exciting. Pamukkale is home to a historical region of Turkey that features thermal pools, said to have healing powers. These ancient pools were sacred to the region's ancestors and UNESCO has listed this particular location of Hierapolis as a natural World Heritage Site.
Pamukkale Tours
While you're in Pamukkale, be sure to embark on one of the tours offered which showcases Hierapolis' ancient ruins, and you'll also see the thermal pools in full view. As a tour guest, you'll have the opportunity of utilizing the full-service spa services available in the thermal pools. The surrounding lands are made up of amazing limestone structures. The waters that run across these limestone pools and structures are rich in calcium salts and leave behind unique shapes and formations. The waters collected in the limestone pools are warm and composed of calcium carbonate, calcium and limestone residue. The tour can last around two hours including thermal pool immersion and exploring the surrounding ruins.
Aegean Coast
If while you're in the Aegean region of Turkey, you'd like to travel a bit farther west to the coast, you'll find wonderful beaches where you can swim, surf or just lounge by the sea. From Pamukkale to the Aegean coast, it's about a 100 mile trip but well worth the drive. One of the nicer beaches, known for its cleanliness, is Pamucak Beach, approximately 12 miles west of the town of Ephesus. The beach here has soft sponge-like sands and interconnects to another beach called Kusadasi. At Kusadasi, you'll find The Aqua Fantasy Resort and Water Park which is Turkey's largest themed water park. At over 100,000 square miles in its entirety including slides, wave pools, waterfalls and rides, it's the perfect place to spend a day with family or friends.
Mediterranean Coast
To the south of Pamukkale, are the Mediterranean coast beaches. This coastal area is one of the most beautiful in all of Turkey, however this is quite a trek to reach them being that it's over 200 miles of travel to reach the coast. If you do decide to make the trip, you'll find several nice beaches in the area including the Patara, Oludeniz, Olimpos, Alanya, Side, Calis, Anamur and Kemer.
