Kahramanmaras is a city in southeastern Turkey and the capitol of Kahramanmaras province. While not typically one of the most popular destinations in Turkey, Kahramanmaras offers many unique and exciting travel opportunities for the tourist who wants to experience something new. The city was originally founded in 1000 BC as a Hittite village, and now is a bustling metropolis of over 300,000 residents settled on the slopes of the beautiful Ahir mountains. One of the can't-miss sites is the Ceyhan Bridge, which dates from the 14th Century, as well as the Kahramanmaras Museum, which houses artwork and archaeological objects from as far back as the original founding of the city. But the city is best known for its ice cream (dondurma in Turkish), as the hub of Turkey's ice cream industry, and one can't leave without sampling the fresh tastes of Mado's desserts. For a great location to choose as your hub, the Hotel Belli is tough to beat. It is right along the main street and within easy walking or taxi distance to virtually any destination in the city or in the greater province. Kahramanmaras is a city in southeastern Turkey . A boutique hotel that is more budget minded is the 29 room Arsan hotel. City views and garden view rooms are available here and the hotel offers breakfast.
