This town is situated in the northern side of the Gulf of Izmit at the foot of the Gazi Dagi.The town has a very cold climate like but there are many beautiful things that we can see there like the splendid Orahan Gazi Cami with its tile decorations and the other Byzantine remains.There is also the dome on the early Ottoman Coban Mustafa Pasa Camii and to the South of Gebze There lies the town of Libyssa where we can find the ruins of Dif Iskelesi,that was the place where the general Hannibal poisoned himself when he was surrounded by the Roman King Prusias.There is no grave there though but it is just a pile of stones.
