When to Go in Fethiye

Edit This

Fethiye is a beautiful resort area in Turkey that is quickly snapping up tourists. The wonderful weather and lower prices make Fethiye one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world. When traveling to Fethiye, when to go is a question that plays on many tourist's minds. The best time of the year largely depends on the climate and types of activity enjoyed by each individual.

Fethiye's Climate

To catch the very best swimming weather, the best time to travel to Fethiye is between early April and mid-June. The days are getting longer and the sea temperature averages between 18 and 22 degrees C. April, up to early June, also holds other advantages. Most school aged children in western Europe will still be in school so the massive crowds associated with the height of summer will not have arrived just yet. You will have the odd week and holiday weekend where it does get busy. Easter can get quite crowded especially when it comes later in April. The first and last Monday in May are holidays in several countries in Europe, making a long weekend and bringing tourists that want a few days of warm sunny skies. The first week of June is also a school holiday period in Britain so crowds might be more dense at this time. Outside of these holiday times the crowds should be quite manageable in Fethiye.

Fethiye in July and August

There are 2 words to describe Fethiye in the months of July and August, hot and humid. In fact is it is so hot that it becomes quite uncomfortable. Although several weather sites list the average temperature as 35 degrees C at this time, (about mid 80s F), it isn't uncommon to see it topple the 40 degree mark and go beyond. Unless you like really hot weather, then it is best to avoid Fethiye during this time. The sea will only provide temporary relief and you cannot always rely on air conditioning.

Fethiye in September and October

Traveling to Fethiye during the early autumn months offers visitors the best of both worlds. By September school has started again around the world so the family-sized crowds will have diminished. As September rolls around the oppressive temperatures from August will have also started to dissipate. The air temperature in September and October still hovers between the high 80s to high 70s with the ocean waters remaining at a comfortable 75 degrees on average. Prices will be lower due to the lower season, bringing an added advantage to visiting during these months.
