Museums in Dalaman

Edit This

Dalaman is an area of Turkey that is steeped in history and has many awe-inspiring ancient ruins.

Marmaris Castle and Museum

Marmaris Castle and Museum is just one of these local highlights and only costs a few lira to enter. Written about by the celebrated historian Herodotus, there has been a castle in this area since 3000 B.C. The castle displays and archaeological information and gives the tourist a valuable insight into the area itself. There has been restoration work ongoing since 1979. The local district is called Tepe Mahelesi - Hill District - and is an invaluable historic area where traditional architecture can be admired.

Ismir

Ismir, in the Dalaman area, also has a wealth of museums. One to visit is the Ataturk Museum on Ataturk Cadesi. This is a house once used by the father of the Turkish Republic and his photo and image can be seen throughout the county as he is held in great respect by its inhabitants.

There is a great deal more to this area then sun and relaxation and the locals are very friendly and willing to help guide you to museums and places of interest.
