When to Go in Antalya
Edit ThisThe country of Turkey has many places to explore but one of the most fabulous is the city of Antalya. When to Go will depend a lot on what kind of climate you find most enjoyable. Due to its location in the Middle East it has a Mediterranean climate throughout the year. For the most part of the year rainfall is at a minimum. In addition to the climate, another reason that will determine the time you would like to arrive could be whether you want to take part in the the many festivals that Antalya hosts. In either case you have some interesting choices to make and we have some information to help you with them.
Antalya’s Climate
Dry Season
What constitutes a Mediterranean climate during the dry season is that the temperature is hot and the air tends to be quite dry. For you who like to bask at the beach the best months will be in July and August. At this time the temperature averages 40 but can climb substantially a bit more. At some stage toward the beginning of March the heat is best for traveling and sight-seeing. The rainy season has passed and the heat has begun to increase slightly, leaving the climate favorable. The same could be said for the months of September and October. Here the heat is dissipating and the rains haven’t started yet. Even in the very hot months the evenings tend to be somewhat comfortable due to the winds coming off the coast.
Wet Season
The rainy season in Antalya goes from just a few days of rain in October to about half of the days raining in December and January. The rain begins to lessen a bit each month following. The average temperature in the rainy months start at 15, then lowering sometimes to about 10. For those who rather enjoy the cooler climates this is a chance to view the wonderful attractions of Antalya. Also, the nights tend to be a bit cold because the winds of the coast are a bit more invigorating at this time.
Activities and Festivals
Summer and Fall Festivals
For those who just love to attend festivals during their vacations, you will see that the festivals showing in Antalya happen during the easier months for enduring the temperature and rain. Some of the events are held indoors but most have both indoor and outdoor aspects to them. It would not be practical for such splendid events to suffer from the harsher weather here. In May is the widely acclaimed Flower Festival. In August you have the Antalya International Folk Music and Dance Festival competition presented during the last week of the month. Also you can see the city’s own special Antalya Festival appearing in the month of September.
