7 Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arriving at New Doha International Airport, you will see the semi-circular bay that the heart of the city is based around. Take a taxi to your hotel, and relax a little bit before heading out again. If you're tired, tonight is a good night to stay in and see what your hotel has to offer. If not, head over to Sharq Village & Spa for some relaxation and fine dining, or go for an evening stroll on the Corniche, which curves around the bay.

Day 2

Doha has some excellent shopping. Visit the Souq Waqif, famed for its spices, where you can find live falcons for sale. In the Gold Souq the focus is on precious metal and jewelry, and if you know how to strike a bargain you can find some great deals. If that's not enough, head to the Hyatt Plaza for a more traditional western shopping experience. It also features one of the best kid's areas in the city, the Jungle Zone.

Day 3

Whether or not you've already been to the Corniche, it's worth a second trip. There are many sights and activities along this beautiful promenade, including the Pearl Statue and the Heritage Village, a traditional Qatari village that sometimes features live music and dancing. Once you have explored the Corniche, head over to the Museum of Islamic Art to explore some of the cultural heritage of the region.

Day 4

If you're ready to get out of the city for a little while, book a tour of the sand dunes. Most companies will pick you up directly from your hotel, and experienced drivers will showcase the sights of the desert.

Day 5

Located just 20 km from Doha, the Doha Zoo is a great place to spend a day. If you don't have a rental car you can take a taxi or hotel shuttle, if available. Spread out over 42 acres, the zoo offers a chance to see over 1500 beautiful animals, including the Oryx, a very rare endangered species.

Day 6

Just south of Doha on the coast is Al Wakra, a very nice seaside community that offers a chance to see another side of Qatar. The local museum is focused on the traditional trade in fish and pearls, which was Qatar's economic lifeblood until the discovery of oil after World War II.

Day 7

Your last day in Doha is a great time to revisit your favorite places in the city. If you have extra cash to spend, get in some last minute shopping at the souqs or malls. Take a leisurely stroll down the Corniche, or revisit your favorite restaurant. Just make sure to allow enough time to get to the airport, and enjoy your flight home.
