Jerusalem Travel Guide

The United Nations decided in 1947 to establish a demilitarized zone in Jerusalem under the aegis of the United Nations Trusteeship Council. None of the parties accepted this. Western Jerusalem came under Israel control in 1948 and East Jerusalem was occupied by Israel in 1967. The status of the city is still disputed and the de facto Israeli annexation has not been internationally accepted.
