Sohar has a variety of shopping options including traditional markets. Going to a traditional market is a memorable experience and is a must do when visiting the area. There is a market in the heart of the town which has many stalls to explore. Another market can be found near Sohar Castle. Shopping malls sell a variety of products and two options are Safeer Mall and Centerpoint. These shopping malls sell a variety of brands and there are restaurants where you can stop for refreshments.

Sohar Regional Sports Complex has a stadium where you can watch football, and the Sohar Club runs from here. Sohar Plaza Cinema has good entertainment and screens a variety of movies. Sohar Castle is a prominent tourist attraction. Construction on the castle began in the 13th century. Portuguese rulers were driven from the castle and it became an administrative center. Inside the castle is a museum which gives visitors more information on Sohar.

Try a shwarma at one of the local restaurants. It is possible to buy international food such as Indian, Lebanese or American, and there are chains of KFC and Pizza Hut.
