Beaches in Sohar

The city of Sohar is an ancient fishing and seaport located in the country of Oman. Sohar Beaches are among the most popular in the country and the temperate is a consistent 25 to 30 degrees C all year around. While on vacation, location is important as the visitor wants to be central to all events. Recently the city has become more popular for its beaches due to the attention received from by the eco-tourism industry.

Wildlife and Sohar Beaches

Sohar Beach is Omar in general is renowned for the quality of its beaches and the amazing attractions. Tourists who visit are not disappointed. The region is famous for turtle runs and dolphin sightings. Night owls can watch turtles come from the Indian Ocean to lay their eggs on the beach. Early birds can take a boat tour to watch dolphins. The species include bottle nose and spinner dolphins. Bird watchers will be delighted by the number of species available. Flamingos, doves and Egyptian vultures are some of species on the beach. The amenities that Sohar beaches offers its guest are merely incredible.

Sallan Beach

Sallan Beach is located in Sohar, on the new west corner of the Batinah strip. Visitors to these beaches will admire their pristine condition. Some of the more popular activities include snorkeling, dolphin watching and fishing. The beach is also dotted with resorts where beach goers can enjoy an excellent meal.

Qurum Beach

Qurum Beach is another beach located in the town of Sohar. In this section of the Batinah coast, a swimmer can walk out four km in the sea.  Visitors can rent jet skis from local vendors to explore to race in the sea. Families can enjoy a picnic lunch together at many tables set up by the beach.  The beach is highly rate for eco-tourists.

Local Attractions

Oman’s coast is dotted with various forts from the Al-Yarubi dynasty. Sohar Fort has a local in-house museum that goes into the local history of the city and Oman. The museum opened in 1993 and has been a popular attraction since then. Sinbad the Sailor is from the town of Sohar and is included in museum exhibits. To honor Sinbad the city holds a race every year to honor the sailor. The open-air markets by the beach offer an exotic number of goods for the visitor to bring home.
