Salalah - Nightlife and Entertainment

The nightlife scene in Salalah is somewhat restrained and insipid, given that it’s still a deeply conventional Islamic city and a boisterous nightlife is not exactly in tandem with local religious customs. However party enthusiasts need not fret because there is a handful of night clubs, bars and pubs in 5-star hotels that play haunting Arabic melodies and smooth R & B tunes. Mayfair

This smart-casual English-pub style venue at the Hilton Salalah Resort is a great place to get together with friends over a mug of beer, while cheering for your favorite team playing at a sporting event being telecast on a giant-sized screen. The ambiance is classy and the pub is adorned with deep chocolate-brown furniture. The place is informal and cozy without losing its classical appeal. Visitors can feast on scrumptious burgers, huge club sandwiches and local delicacies like meat kebabs and rolls. Head to Mayfair if you are looking for a noisy yet intimate night out. The bar is closed from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Whispers Lounge

This plush lounge, also located at the Hilton, is a very popular nightspot with tourists and the local expat community. There are live band performances and dance shows along with a line-up of other entertainment programs. The place is also known to serve brilliant cocktails and an array of fine wines along with some nice international starters. The lounge is open from daily from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Al Luban Night Club

The Al Luban Night Club, housed at the lobby level of Crowne Plaza Resort, is a restaurant cum night club that is frequented by tourists and well-heeled locals. The elegant and expensive party destination serves gourmet cuisine and features live performances by several local and international brands. The DJ plays great tunes and there are some special weekend nights, when local singers and dancers are invited to entertain the crowds.  The glamorous party haunt is one of the few spots in Salalah, where you can let your hair down and dance like crazy.

Al Khareef Pub

Al Khareef is a richly decorated, sophisticated pub located in the Crowne Plaza Resort and is a crowd puller for its lovely setting in the backdrop of a stunning Arabian Sea view. This popular hangout features a quiet, casual and upscale ambiance without appearing ostentatious. The cocktails are some of the best in town and the place is a great option for a romantic evening.

Salalah has a relatively restricted and staid nightlife, owing to the fact that liquor laws are a little stringent and liquor permits are only given to non-Islamic tourists and expats.
