Mayfair
This is a smart-casual English pub style venue at the Hilton Salalah Resort. It is a great place to get together with friends over a mug of beer, with good ambiance. It has an informal and cozy appeal. Here you can eat burgers, club sandwiches, and local delicacies such as meat kebabs and rolls. You must visit this place if you like a noisy yet intimate night out. The bar is closed from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Whispers Lounge
This plush lounge has live band performances and dance shows, apart from other forms of entertainment. You get brilliant cocktails and some fine wines, as well as great appetizers. The lounge is open everyday from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Al Luban Night Club
Al Luban Night Club is an expensive party destination that serves gourmet cuisine. It offers live performances by several local and international bands. This is one of the few places in Salalah where you can dance like crazy without offending anyone.
Al Khareef Pub
Al Khareef is a richly decorated, fascinating pub. Its backdrop of a stunning Arabian Sea view is a crowd puller. This place is your best bet if you want a romantic evening. All these bars and cafes are great places to hang out in. Since the liquor permit is given only to tourists and expatriates, you will not find many locals in these places. If you are taking a local to one of these places, find out first from them if they drink, as many strict Muslims do not.
All the places mentioned above are suitable for a drink or two. You can enjoy yourself and let down your hair. However, take care that you do not offend local sensibilities by dressing too glamorously. This is especially true for women, who are expected to dress modestly in Islamic countries. Enjoy your drinks and international class starters at all of these bars. You will not find anything amiss at any of them. They cater to the well-heeled, so be prepared to pay for the luxury you are enjoying. The air-conditioning too is bliss after a day out in the dessert heat.
