Day Trips
Edit ThisTraveling Modes
- Bus
A JETT bus tour will cost approximately 12 JD per person inclusive of guided tours and will
cover almost all sight-seeing during your Petra day trip.
- Mini-bus
Mini-buses will cost approximately 3 JD per person, which is much less than the JETT buses. The mini-buses depart from Wadi Rum and Amman.
- Cab
If you can afford it, there’s no better way to travel than by private cab. Cost is negotiable and will depend on time and distance for travel but cabs are definitely more comfortable and convenient that buses and mini-buses.
Sight-seeing
The Petra Archaeological Park's entrance fee is approximately 21 JD per person, but it is worth the cost. This park is huge and you need to ride a camel, horse or a donkey to see as much of the park as you time time for. The High Place of Sacrifice, located on a mountain, is also a famous tourist attraction. The view of Petra city from the top of the mountain is stunning. The highest peak in Petra is Aaron Mountain where there is a church and a tomb of Moses' brother Aaron, the mountain being named after him.
Shopping
The only thing a tourist must buy is a souvenir bottle that is decorated with sand. These unusual bottles that will serve as a pleasant reminder of Petra contain colorful sand that has actually been scrapped from Petra Canyon's rock walls serve as a pleasant reminder of Petra.
Eating
In Petra there are no restaurants other than one which is extremely far away on the Roman highway. But there are a lot eating options in Wadi Musa--where the food is tasty and reasonably priced.
Items to Pack
Travelers visiting Petra during the months December and January should have warm clothes because weather is coldest during these months.
Petra is an exciting day trip and provides a tourist with an opportunity to see the seventh wonder of the world.
